BENEFITING: MEDAIR UNITED STATES
$3,000 provides a permanent home for one Haitian family in need.
A home is meant to be a safe place to nurture a family and provide a sense of security. So when it’s destroyed, a family is devastated. In addition to claiming more than 200,000 lives, the massive quake that struck Haiti in 2010 destroyed more than 1.5 million homes. Nearly four years later, many families are still suffering the devastating effects of the earthquake – on a daily basis. They’re surviving in and around the wreck of their homes. Medair is responding to their needs. Together with families in the remote Côtes-de-Fer region, we’re constructing quake- and hurricane-resilient homes that truly meet their needs and will protect them against future disasters. As well as this, the homes feature a rainwater harvesting system, and a safe latrine – further strengthening their resilience.
Thanks to co-funding from Swiss Solidarity, it costs just $3,000 to give a family in Côtes-de-Fer a safe home, clean water and protection for their future.
I'm trying to raise 1/3 of a home this spring and would love if you joined in with me! What if you and your Valentine gave a gift to those who need it most (instead of a tie or a picture frame that will be forgotten about in a month...)? What if you started giving to a charity regularly by just giving up one Wendy's run each month?
I would love any help in this goal that you can give! If you want to send an email of encouragement to the Medair staff in Haiti, I would greatly appreciate that as well.
Thanks so much for reading this!
