BENEFITING: MISSION 292
EVENT DATE: Jan 07, 2015
We've heard many times that education is one of the great equalizers. It can change the trajectory of a young person's life, giving them opportunities that would otherwise be unattainable. I believe that education is a basic human right and should be afforded to every child, regardless of where they grow up.
In Haiti, 50% of primary school age children are not enrolled in school, and one-third of girls over six never go to school. Many Haitians do not have access to or cannot afford a quality education.
I hope you'll join me in supporting an inspiring organization, Mission 29.2, that organizes a 21 mile race in Ouanaminthe, Haiti to benefit local schools through a non-profit organization called Univers. The organization runs a local primary and high school in Ouanaminthe, serving 2,250 students.
During the trip, I will have the opportunity to visit members of the community and meet some of children benefiting from the race, and your donation.
Here are the details: I'll be running a 21 mile race, alongside Haitian runners and others from Washington, D.C. and across the U.S., to support this worthy cause. We each have a fundraising goal of $1,000. I hope you'll donate and join me in supporting this great cause.
