BENEFITING: PROJECT MEDISHARE FOR HAITI INC
Laurie and Heather are going to Haiti in May to volunteer with Project Medishare and we are raising money to support the Project and a prosthesis for a new amputee.
Although the earthquake in Haiti was over a years ago, they still need your help. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere which makes it harder for them to recover from an earthquake that killed more than 200,000 people and left more than a million homeless. The challenge in Haiti remains to move the country off emergency care and into long-term rehabilitation. Project Medishare is doing just that by training the Haitians to become health care providers. Our volunteer physical therapy team is currently training five Haitians to become certified physical therapy technicians by teaching them basic exercises, transfers, and basic anatomy. It doesn’t end with training local Haitians, they also still need prostheses and other supplies for their patients. Which is why we are asking for your help.
