- Please note: As of November 20 we've already hit $1000 limit, which was how much I was offering to match. So - in the interests of full transparency - while you are totally welcome and encouraged to continue donating at this page, I've now met my objective of raising $2000 by matching $1000 of friends donations. So your future donations still count, I just won't be matching any further donations beyond $1000. Thanks to everyone who has donated and shared!
We have all seen the devastating images on our media in the past week following the super-typhoon in the Philippines. Entire cities and towns have been leveled. Thousands have been killed and injured. Perhaps millions of people left with severe shortages of food, shelter, clean water and basic sanitation.
The people affected need our help. There are MANY ways for you to donate to help the relief effort. This is my own small contribution.
I am running the Berkeley California half marathon on Sunday November 24, and I propose to use the opportunity to raise any amount I can for the Typhoon relief efforts. If you donate $1 to this effort I will match it with $1 of my own money (to a maximum matching amount of $1,000).This supports the Red Cross Typhoon relief fund.
With your support, the American Red Cross is mobilizing relief supplies, contributing financial assistance and deploying disaster experts to the Philippines.
How it works:
- Whatever amount has been donated by midnight Sunday night November 24, up to a maximum of $1000USD, I will match the donation and then submit all funds to the Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Relief fund.
