Dear friends, family, and colleagues,
Whether you support gun ownership or not, we should all be able to agree that education on the complicated issues involved with gun violence, and how to stop it, is just as critically imporant in our culture as education and research on diseases like cancer and diabetes. To this end, I will be training for and swimming (1.2 miles), biking (56 miles), and running (13.1 miles) the Timberman Half Ironman this August, as a fundraising initiative to support the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence. The objective of this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is to secure freedom from gun violence through research, strategic engagement and effective policy advocacy. They support initiatives such as fixing our background check system, closing gun show loopholes, and banning high capacity magazines and assault weapons. You can learn more at the Coaltion's website at http://www.csgv.org/
If you agree that the protection of our families and citizens from gun violence is imperative, you can donate via this link (all donations are tax deductible).
Thanks for your contribution and support. I will be posting training updates and reminders each month.
