Heritage Academy is a progressive private school located in the Central Region of Ghana in West Africa. In 2004, Kwesi Koosom returned to his home town of Breman-Essiam to start Heritage Academy in a small church. 10 years later, Heritage has grown into a K-12 school serving 1,200 students from two campuses, run completely without the help of Ghanaian government funding.
For its 10 years of existence, Heritage has had a 100% pass rate on Ghanaian National Exams, while other private schools in the area yield a 50% pass rate. Many of the students at Heritage receive some form of financial aid or scholarship from the Schoerke Foundation to make this education possible.
While volunteering at Heritage this summer we witnessed what a difference attending Heritage makes in the lives of the students. Attending Heritage provides young Ghanaians with the opportunity to thrive both educationally and as individuals, operating on its motto of ‘Knowledge and Integrity.’
On October 12, we will be running the Boston Half Marathon. Between September 12th and the date of the half marathon (our birthdays) we will be raising donations for Heritage Academy. The money raised will go toward providing scholarships for students and supporting building projects, such as a new kitchen and improved latrines.
Thank you for your support of Heritage Academy!
