BENEFITING: The Hall STEPS Foundation
ORGANIZER: The Hall STEPS Foundation
I am running in the 2016 New York City Half Marathon in loving memory of my sister, Chris! This race is hugely significant and meaningful, and even my entry to this event is miraculous. The NYC Half Marathon was my Sister's last race before she suddenly passed away just 3 weeks after the event in 2013.
Just one year ago I took up running again in Chris' honour and to keep her love for running alive. Last July I had the honour and privilege of meeting Sara Hall at the 2015 Gold Coast Marathon. After sharing the loss of my Sister with Sara, I was completely blown away 2 weeks later when I received an email from Sara inviting me to run in the 2016 NYC Half Marathon and fundraise for The Hall Steps Foundation! WOW!
For the benefit of Australians who don't know of Sara Hall, she is a highly talented professional American athlete. Sara is married to Ryan Hall, who holds the U.S. record for the fastest marathon ever by an American in a time of 2:04:58.
Sara and Ryan Hall founded The Hall Steps Foundation in 2009. This is a non-profit organisation to fight global poverty through better health. To date they have invested in micro-loans in East Africa, revamped a maternity clinic in Senegal, funded clean water projects in Mozambique, donated to help complete the building of the Kenya hospital and much more. For more information visit their website www.thestepsfoundation.org.
Please help me support The Hall Steps Foundation by donating to this great cause.
Although excited and nervous about the race, crossing the finish line in New York will be incredibly emotional. I know Chris will be running this race with me.
THANK YOU for your support!
