Hampton Roads Justice Network Antifascist Legal Fund
Organized by: HamptonRoads JusticeNetwork
On Friday January 20th, as Donald Trump was being inaugurated as the 45th president just a few blocks away, an anti-fascist march took place to stand up against hate. Just minutes after the march started, trigger-happy militarized police began assaulting protesters with batons, bear mace, pepper spray, flash bang grenades. Just minutes after the police brutality started, a mass arrest happened, at which time three of our beloved Hampton Roads Justice Network comrades were detained and charged with a Felony Riot Act. This scare tactic to keep protesters from standing up for justice is a common practice by the state to repress resistance. After spending over thirty six hours in custody, our friends were released, exhausted from the brutal treatment they received for their beliefs. They need legal support funds ASAP. A felony trial is a serious matter, and the level of support that is needed for this to be a successful trial is immense. We will be caring for these individuals in many ways and you can contribute to their personal well being by donating now. The Inauguration Resistance was just one of many anti-fascist, anti-racist actions that the Hampton Roads Justice Network has taken, and our work has not stopped. We are not afraid of police brutality, we are not afraid of white supremacists, and we are not afraid of state repression. We will continue to stand up for what is right, no matter the risks. The stakes are high but we are committed to standing on the right side of history. Contact us at HRJN@protonmail.com for more information or to make a large donation.
