Double my goal!
February 02, 2017
Our daughter was born at 30 weeks weighing just 2lbs. Although we expected that she would be born premature, we did not fully grasp the alarming reality of having a preemie. We spent 56 long days in the NICU wondering when we could bring her home. During that time, Hand to Hold was a valuable resource for our family. I read every article they printed and made available to NICU families- the advice and information helped me be an advocate for my daughter, both in the hospital and when we came home. H2H volunteers made bedside rounds at night, offering a supportive, listening ear and literally giving me their hand to hold. They shared personal stories and experiences that helped me feel not so alone. H2H hosted a holiday party for families in the NICU where I made my daughter her first Christmas ornament. After my daughter's homecoming, H2H assisted our family in dealing with life after the NICU. This is an organization that actively supports families who are experiencing the birth of a premature baby with special health care needs. Now our 13 month old is an active, healthy child who loves to play outdoors, open and close doors, hand feed her dogs, and throw random items in the trash can. We will be running the 5K together (fine, she will be cheering me on while I push her stroller) and my goal is to raise at least $250! I know it's possible by your help! Please spread the word by sharing my page with family and friends! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
