Hand2Hand began after it's founder, Cheri Honderd, discovered kids in a local elementary school were going hungry over the weekend. The kids were receiving meals through school programs during the week, but on the weekends they were going without food. The faith-based program involves partnering local churches with schools to provide nutritious food to students over the weekend, so they have a greater opportunity to succeed academically, emotionally and physically. Hand2Hand started in one school in Jenison, MI. It has since grown to 75 schools and 51churches partnering to eliminate child hunger. The requests from schools seeking help continues to grow. Hand2Hand wants to respond to all the needs of feeding hungry children in the community.
