Handicapped seniors need accessible fixes at home
Organized by: Terri Brewer
My parents are in their 70's and have struggled and worked hard all their lives to take care of their family and many others who needed a place to call home and get themselves back on track. My mom is disabled and cannot get around without a wheel chair. She can no longer go up and down stairs (although she will crawl down them because she is determined to get what she needs) and her home needs some handicap upgrades. She needs a new bathroom with a walk in bath tub and her laundry room moved up to the main floor. She also needs a wheelchair ramp and deck added onto her home. The entrance to her home needs to be replaced and made level as she has fallen down the stairs twice just getting into or out of her house. She also needs a wider entrance into her bedroom. I am helping to put a new roof on her home which is greatly needed, but I am a widow with 2 young children and a teenager at home and cannot afford to do much for her. We have family and friends that are willing to do most of work but we must purchase the necessary supplies and that is very expensive. Any donation you are able to afford will be greatly appreciated and extremely helpful to making a wonderful woman's quality of life less dangerous .
