Hands and Hearts and Harmonius Help-Paying It Forward
Organized by: Lilieth Levi
Hi my name is Dr. Levi, a health care professional, who have been blessed. However, I like to give, to help, and to empower and inspire others to do the same. See, I know what it is like to not have anything. However, along the way, there was always someone to help me out. I do believe in Karma, and that what we do, will certainly return full circle. I believe in paying it forward and making a difference, however small.
I have also volunteered since I was very young, and in different capacities. Paying it forward, means a lot to me. It is the basis of my existence really. I wake up and I am always thinking how I can make even a small difference in the world, and in someone's life. As a health professional, I know how criical it is to establish a seamless system that will immediately detect those at risk, and those with the disease in order to link people to quarantine, and provide, continuous and coordinated quality care when they learn they are infected with the disease.
I honestly cannot make it overseas to help in the fight against Ebola, since I am also taking care of a close family member who is not doing well at the moment. I have done, and is willig to do anything from afar to help strengthen the confidence and strength of my many collegues in the field, and help them in the fight to contain this disease. I have and will do anything from letters of proposals to corporations such as Johnson and Johnson, and Med. Surg, even Airlines to acess anthing that will help in getting the resourcesto fight Ebola.
have colleagues in 3 areas fighting this disease. I know that as elusive, and fatal, as the disease is; given the manpower, logistics, and simple protective garb and prevention and other medical equipment, we will be many steps closer to containing this deadly disease. Mycolleagues have mentioned, they are areas in Monrovia where aid workers are reusing gloves and taping even ripped ones. This is dangerous friends! I have studied Epidemiology, and natural disasters & I am also cognizant that the lasting effects of Ebola are yet to be addressed. Such effects include, but are not limited to: The psychiatric components and economic effects. Not to mention many poor little kids who are now orphans. This is not a good situation, and the worst could be looming.
Your help of any amount will make a major difference in the life of many professionals (my colleagues) who have flown over to help even with very minimal, and scarce resources to save lives. This money will give them access to the basics, sturdy new gloves, masks, and I have three colleagues, who have personally taken on the plight of 5 little orphans. Hearing their stories, really broke my heart, and I felt compelled to help. I am hoping you will be willing to join me on this trip-Let us use our Hands, Hearts and Harmony and make a difference -even to save one life--several--many-Remember, we are all part of one family with the surname "Human Race" We are all a part of this. It is in our best interests to do whatever we can to stop this disease in its tracks-and now! Thank you friends.
