BENEFITING: HandsOn Bay Area
Welcome to the fundraising page for HandsOn Bay Area's East Bay Leadership Team!
Who we are: We're a team of different professional backgrounds who are passionate about making a difference in our community. Read our profiles here!
What we're doing this year:
Because food scarcity is a problem for many people in the Bay Area, we decided to focus on food justice and how land and space relate to the food system. We hope to raise awareness about the problems of food and hunger through service projects and educational events.
How we will accomplish this:
-Teamworks: A series of service projects addressing the various food-related inequalities in the East Bay. We'll be connecting volunteers with various non-profits, including community farms and food co-ops, where they can learn what's being done to help those affected by these issues.
-Large scale service project: A one-time service event where we'll recruit 50+ volunteers.
-Learning how to be the change: We'll be attending workshops that showcase the various aspects of nonprofit work, such as fundraising and strategic development, so that we can become apart of these causes in a bigger way.
-Why we need your help: As part of our fellowship, we've been tasked with raising $5300 that will support the costs of our events and projects. The remainder of the money raised will go directly to Hands on Bay Area.
How HandsOn Bay Area (HOBA) is making a difference:
HOBA offers nonprofits a valuable resource that these organizations often cannot afford: volunteers who can support their programming free-of-charge. This is done at the individual level, through their projects calendar and on a larger scale through corporate volunteer events. HOBA organizes and facilitates learning and Leadership programs, such as Hands on Leadership and Hands on Tomorrow, for people who want to engage with community service work on a deeper level. When we need to complete our fundraiser:
We are part of a year-long fellowship that will conclude December 2017. We need to complete our fundraiser by the end of November.
Stay tuned! We're in the planning stages of our activities for this year, but come back to our Crowd Rise page for updates on our fundraising events and service projects. We're excited for the year ahead!
