My name is Hannah Montague, and I am a junior at Wake Forest University, studying Biology and Russian. For the better part of the past two years, I have been involved withTake the Fight. By pairing college students with cancer patients, we are fighting cancer one day at a time, creating stronger, braver, and more informed patients, while changing lives, not to exclude our own, in the process. We equip students with the tools to work and fight along side their patients, while in the process helping them to streamline their care and access the resources they need to fight cancer with full force. We attend doctor's appointments and treatments with our patients to ensure that each aspect of their care is maximized to its fullest potential.
I came to Take the Fight out of anger, after watching a best friend battle through her own fight with cancer, and experiencing first hand the agony and pain cancer brings along with it. Through Take the Fight, I have been incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to work, serve, and learn alongside some of the most compassionate, brilliant, and forward thinking people I have ever had the privilege to meet. Everyone fights for a different reason. For me? It's for the continuation of a legacy that cancer couldn't stand in the way of. It's for the loved ones that cancer takes from us.
Let's change the world, together.
Take the Fight's Story
We are a group of college students, cancer patients, oncologists, nurses, and die-hard patient advocates who believe that WE CAN and WILL do better by cancer patients. We are launching this campaign on behalf of those who cannot do so for themselves. We pair students 1on1 with patients to help them live longer and better. Our students keep patients informed, engaged, and empowered. We’ve launched this holiday fundraiser so that we can reach more students and more cancer patients. Give the gift of family this holiday season. Give hope. Give joy. Give someone a fighting chance.
