In honor of the life, work and vision of Samuel B. Hanser, Tom and Rachel are training for and racing in Ironman Lake Placid. The Ironman Triathlon is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run to be held in Lake Placid, NY, July 24, 2011.
We believe strongly in an integrative approach to well-being and it is in Sam's honor and in recognition of his life's work that we are raising money to support his vision to create a healing empowerment center.
Sam was a graduate of Parsons The New School of Design and defended his master's thesis in Somatic Psychotherapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies. In addition, he studied energy healing extensively, completed a certification as a Tantra teacher and went to India to be initiated into a lineage of meditation practice that dates back more than 1,000 years. Sam's theses offer new models for mind-body healing in which the clinical environment is an integral part of the healing prescription. His plans touch on sustainable design, an East/West mind-body healing approach, somatic therapy, and spirituality as crucial elements in healing. It is a masterpiece and a union of structure (architectural
design) and function (a center for healing).
The Samuel B. Hanser Memorial Trust was created in his memory to build the Healing Empowerment Center that Sam Hanser designed and to provide clinical services and education based on an integrative model.
More information on the Samuel B. Hanser Memorial trust can be found here:
“Life made a promise to us. A promise that we would flourish, blossom
and thrive. It promised us that we could realize the next step in our
evolution, that we could keep getting better, keep growing in our next
highest vision, our next deepest understanding, our next fullest
experience of ourselves. Life promised that this process is limitless
and that it never ends.”
