BENEFITING: FARM SANCTUARY
EVENT DATE: Apr 28, 2013
After watching clips of the free movie "Earthlings" online (earthlings.com), I decided to do whatever I can to raise awareness about factory farming. And I am asking my lovely family and dear friends to support me as I run (or enthusiastically walk) in the 2013 Eugene Half Marathon on behalf of factory farm animals.
The money that I raise from this fundraiser will go to Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit animal organization dedicated to protecting farm animals from cruelty and inspiring change in the way society views and treats animals. Thanks to its supporters (you and me), Farm Sanctuary rescues thousands of animals and cares for them at sanctuaries in the US, educates millions of people about the plight of factory-farmed animals and the effects of factory farming on our health and environment, and advocates for laws and policies to prevent suffering and promote compassion.
10 billion factory farm animals are slaughtered every year in the US alone (about 60 billion worldwide). Animals in factory farms live from birth until slaughter in dismal, cramped conditions. Imagine spending your entire life confined to a space barely larger than your own body. Such unnatural and unhealthy conditions have huge and terrible impacts on animals, our health, and the environment. If you want to learn more about the conditions and consequences of factory farms, go to www.farmsanctuary.org or google "factory farming."
If you have $13 (or more) to spare, please click the donate button and join me in helping animals, ourselves, and the environment.
Thank you so much!
