Help save lives with Harbor House of Central Florida and The Allstate Foundation from October 1st to October 27th as we ignite public awareness and raise funds to promote economic empowerment through the Purple Purse Challenge.
Harbor House of Central Florida empowers domestic abuse survivors to take control of their lives, rediscovering safety and self-esteem. By providing critical life-saving services to survivors, implementing and advancing best practices, and through education and engagement initiatives, we seek to eliminate domestic violence in our community and around the country.
Since the inception of the domestic violence movement in the 1970’s, Harbor House has been highly regarded as one of the most comprehensive domestic violence programs in the State of Florida. We have five main programs to support our mission: emergency shelter, children’s services, community outreach, legal advocacy services and community & professional education. The 110 bed emergency shelter is operated 24 hours a day for survivors of family violence. This life saving program has been in operation for 39 years and is the only state-certified domestic violence shelter in Orange County, Florida.
During the challenge, Harbor House will be increasing awareness about financial empowerment services for domestic violence survivors and asking for donations to help us win contests featuring more than $500,000 in total prize funding. All funds raised in addition to contest prizes will directly benefit survivors of domestic abuse at Harbor House!
Our goal is to make sure every survivor of domestic abuse knows their options and has the tools to become financially empowered. With your help, we can achieve this goal together.
