HOW $466 CAN CHANGE A LIFE...
December 24, 2016
This fundraiser is to try and recapture some of the funding lost due to the US Department of Education's decision not to fund a successful program because one of the schools served it was felt was not needy enough even though over 70% of the students are low-income and in need of our free educational and advising services. This is a clear case of penalized if you don't and penalized if you do. In other words, if we do not meet the goals/objectives each year we risk losing funding; if we do meet or exceed the goals/objectives each year then we also risk losing funding as in this case. The loss of this funding has meant that over 1,000 low-income students in need are not being serviced. Additionally the loss of our funding and that of others in the borough of Manhattan has meant that the students in the Upper, upper Eastside of the borough are not receiving free educational and guidance services to assist them to complete school and enroll in college.
