BENEFITING: Harlem RBI
ORGANIZER: Harlem RBI
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
I am a fourth grade teacher at DREAM Charter School in East Harlem and I will be running the 2012 NYC Marathon on behalf of Harlem RBI and my school. As a member of this team, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support an organization and school that provides so many opportunities for children in the East Harlem community to play, learn, and grow. Please read more about these two organizations below.
As a teacher, I have the chance every day to influence the young minds of tomorrow. By running the NYC Marathon, (along with my co-teacher, Erin Convery), we hope to inspire students to set ambitious and challenging goals and model a healthy, well-rounded life-style. To be a runner is to demonstrate characteristics that are necessary for being successful in all aspects of life--- to plan for and commit to a goal, to persevere, to be both tenacious and patient, to face failures and set-backs and still forge forward, to continually set the bar higher.
I hope that you will please consider supporting Harlem RBI, Dream Charter School, and my personal goal of running the NYC Marathon in any way possible.
Fundraising goal: $5,000 by November 4, 2012

DREAM's mission is to prepare students for high-performing high schools, colleges and beyond through a rigorous academic program that develops critical thinkers who demonstrate a love of learning, strong character, and a commitment to wellness and active citizenship.
