This year is Delaware Humane Association’s 23rd Annual Walk for the Animals. The "Tails Around the Tower" walk will be our team, Hassett’s Hounds, 5th year of fundraising for DHA.
We became more and more involved with Delaware Humane Association after attending different fundraising events with our first dog Manny. From parrot-head themed fundraisers to "Playtimes at the Beach" to the "Muttini Mixer", we've always enjoyed meeting fellow pet owners and getting to know the DHA staff/volunteers/supporters. DHA really does wonderful work with the limited resources available to them. That's why the annual Walk for the Animals is such an important fundraiser for DHA, it is their largest fundraiser, and every dollar is needed to service the needs of those pets unfortunate to have not yet found a "forever home".
We walk because those less fortunate animals are dependent upon us to be there for them. For the past 5 years my wife and I have recruited from 25 to 40 individuals for our team, Hassett's Hounds. From bake sales to wine tastings, raising money for DHA has been very rewarding and we couldn't do it without the team members, friends and family supporting our efforts and participating in some way.
Another reason we walk is because we adopted our second dog, Dakota, from the DHA. Dakota is the best companion to Manny while we are away at work during the day. I would encourage everyone to think about getting their current dog or cat a "friend" to buddy around with. See Manny and Dakota, best buddies in the photo below. If it wasn’t for DHA, Manny would not have such a wonderful sister in Dakota!
