BENEFITING: EAST GEORGIA CANCER COALITION INC
The East Georgia Cancer Coalition’s mammography program called “Have You Been Screened?”, provides mammograms to un/under-insured women at no cost to the patient while controlling costs by negotiating low rates. The East Georgia Cancer Coalition (EGCC) emphasizes early screening in its programs but we also understand that the cost of screenings is more than what some individuals and families can afford. One of the main reasons people do not get cancer screenings is due to lack of money or insurance. The East Georgia Cancer Coalition works with local and regional providers and organizations to increase community access to mammogram services through the “Have you been screened?” program by addressing structural barriers and reducing out of pocket costs. In some cases, reduced cost screenings are still unaffordable, so the EGCC has offered programs that pay for the screenings of uninsured or underinsured patients at no cost to the patient, such as our mammogram program. To address the issue of cost, the EGCC raises provider awareness of the latest research discoveries and cost effective cancer screenings and makes every effort to bring these methods to the mainstream. The donations raised through this fundraising campaign will provide individuals with access to reduced or no-cost cancer screenings. Join us in helping un/under-insured individuals and women receive the cancer screenings they deserve as we unite with medical providers and other organizations to effectively fight cancer and improve cancer outcomes in our communities.
