On July 1st, 2015, after more than 35 years working side by side, A Safe Place and SASS (Sexual Assault Support Services) officially merged and combined their strengths and experience to serve more individuals than ever before. The same dedicated staff, volunteers, and Board members of the separate organizations are working together to increase their collective impact and reach across Southeastern New Hampshire. We have never been more poised to eliminate domestic and sexual violence in our communities than we are today.
Over the years, A Safe Place and SASS saw countless numbers of people who benefited from the services of the two agencies but also saw the challenges and inefficiencies that arose as individuals sought help at one agency only to be referred to the other. Our decision to merge reflects our vision for the future where individuals can seek comprehensive services, experience limited barriers to support, and begin their journey forward with stronger, more stable footing.
Our mission is to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking, and to support and empower women, men, youth and families to heal from abuse and rebuild their lives.
As we look forward to a new era as HAVEN, the largest crisis agency in the state of New Hampshire, we know that reintroducing our agency and our vision for improved and expanded services for the community is essential. You can help us continue to provide critical programs and services needed to support victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence by supporting us through the NO MORE Challenge.
