BENEFITING: Clean Ocean Action
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2012
Every year, my mom and I travel to Keansburg Beach, where she grew up, on the Jersey Shore, to help Clean Ocean Action clean and preserve the beaches. We each take 2 large bags and walk the shore for several hours collecting and recording all the trash that was either left behind or washed up on the sand. Last year I found a clam that was stuck in the plastic soda bottle rings. My mom writes down all the stuff we pick up so that Clean Ocean Action can help determine sources of pollution in the areas, and I carry the bag and pick up the trash, with my gloves on of course. By the time we are done we usually have collected 2-3 30 gallon trash bags full! This year I hope we get to participate in both Beach Sweeps again, but living in Pennsylvania, I don't get to help with much else, so I decided to help Clean Ocean Action raise funds to be used for other beach preservation projects. Thanks for your help!
