This is my fourth time running the Humboldt Dream Run and I hope to raise even more money than the past years!
The Chicago Dream Center is near and dear to my heart. Carlos and I have volunteered at Manna for Life, a food pantry operated by the Chicago Dream Center since September 2009. The food pantry serves over 200 families every single Saturday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood by providing groceries. The families also receive full dinners for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. Once Alegra is big enough, I can't wait for her to start volunteering to learn the importance of service and giving back to the community.
But the pantry is only one of the amazing things that the Chicago Dream Center is doing in the community! The CDC also operates a women's recovery program for women who have battled with alcohol and substance abuse, a shelter for single women and children, an overnight mens' shelter, and a teen girl's home. Additionally, the CDC has programs that go out into the streets to feed the homeless in Chicago, and rescue women from sex trafficking.
I hope you will donate to this amazing and very worthy cause. Any amount, large or small, will get me closer to my fundraising goal, and more importantly, will help to support the efforts of the Chicago Dream Center.
Thanks for your support!
