BENEFITING: Huntington's Disease Society of America, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Hello Everyone – my name is Greg Cassity, and I have Huntington’s Disease. It is an inherited, fatal disease that is slowly tearing down my brain and deteriorating my mental and physical capabilities. You can read more about it at www.HDSA.org.
I just turned the same age as when my Mother died of HD. She was a great mom, but she was also terrified of this disease – her own fear of being At-Risk that eventually turned to full-fledged Huntington’s, the fear of her two children being At-Risk, and ultimately her demise from the disease. She basically hid away in our house for much of her latest years.
My approach to dealing with this disease is different. I love to run, walk, cycle, swim, hike, backpack, etc. and I plan to keep doing as much of that as possible for as long as possible. HD has taken away my ability to maintain employment, but I can still get around…
I am running the NYC Marathon for myself.
I am running for my family.
I am running to raise money for HD research.
I am running to promote awareness of this disease.
Thank all of you for caring!
