Tami died December 4, 2014 after a 10+ year battle with Huntington’s Disease; 2 weeks before her 51st birthday. She was our big sister. She was also a loved and loving daughter, aunt, cousin, friend and most importantly wife and mother. After Tami died, we wanted to find a way to honor her and her memory.
We are so excited to have found a way to do this!
Tonia is running the New York City Marathon in memory of Tami and in honor of all people struggling with this terrible disease, and Teresa will be providing medical support! Together, we are raising money to support the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure.
It is hard to imagine what it is like to live with a disease that does not yet have a cure. The fear of the unknown could be daunting, but not for Tami. She laughed, teased, played and lived her life the best she could until her very last days!
The day she passed away, it was said she never cried or got angry about having the disease. She had a smile on her face through it all. If we could only be half as strong as her...
