My name is Julie Zavrl. I am a senior at Boston College studying history and secondary education. I decided to run the Boston Marathon this year (I think I'm crazy!) and I have the privilege of running for Heading Home.
Heading Home is incredibly special and has never failed to impress me with their powerful effort to end homelessness in Greater Boston. I am lucky that I grew up in a family that introduced me to Heading Home. I have met some of the strongest, sweetest, and most amazing people through my experiences with the Up and Out program and spending time at the Medford family shelter. There are many reasons individuals and families end up homeless. Every family's story is different, but their perseverance, hardwork, and determination consistently inspire me.
Heading Home provides the needed support, housing, resources, and services to get clients out of homelessness permanently. Their success rate is incredibly high and their work truly is making a difference for so many people in our community.
Please help me in my mission to give as much as I can to this worthy organization so they can continue to do amazing work. Thank you in advance!

"Heading Home’s mission is to end homelessness in Greater Boston by providing a supported pathway to self-sufficiency that begins with a home, together with critical services such as life skills, financial literacy, and job training.
Heading Home serves nearly 1,700 people annually, and places a special emphasis on helping local homeless families. For nine consecutive years, at least 90% of the residents in our permanent housing programs have remained successfully housed a year later. This success is due to the supportive services provided by Heading Home’s well-trained, experienced and compassionate case management staff throughout all stages of a client's transition from homelessness into permanent, affordable housing." -Heading Home Inc.
