Did you know there are over 153,000,000 children in the world who have lost at least one parent to disease and poverty? It's an unimaginable number, but it's reality. Many of these children do not attend school, they face hunger daily and lack basic access to clean water and security. What does this mean? They need help, and it's up to us to do our part.
Your donation will ensure that HEAL will be able to continue to provide a home and resources to the children at Rapha Community Center in Nyahururu, Kenya. We care for 45 orphans, and provide quality education to 80 students. The support we have received from sponsors, donors and our partners has enabled us to improve the lives of children who desperately need assistance. The work we have done has made a difference, but there is always more for us to do.
Right now, the monthly operating budget of Rapha Community Center is $5,000. HEAL receives approximately $3,000 each month from their sponsorship program, which means they need to raise $2,000 per month to cover expenses. Your donation to the Giving Challenge this year will go towards the development of income projects that will provide sustainability to the general operating of the children’s home and the school. The first project will include the purchase of 4 quality milking cows at $750 each that will generate approximately $1,000 in milk sales each month.
Here are some examples of what your money could accomplish:
$10 will buy 1 chicken for our poultry project.
$15 will buy 1 mattress.
$20 will pay the electricity bill for 1 month.
$30 will buy a 1 month supply of vaseline and laundry soap for all the children at the Center.
$50 will buy 1 large bag of beans that will last for 1 month.
$100 will buy 1 microscope for the school.
$250 will pay the salary of a teacher for 1 month.
$750 will buy a cow for our income project.
Please donate so we are able to help provide a home to even more children.
Every little bit will make a difference.
How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. --Anne Frank
