BENEFITING: BUMI SEHAT FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL INC
Hello! I'm Julie and welcome to my fundraiser for the Bumi Sehat Foundation Inc. in Indonesia.
First, a little about myself and why I'm doing this........I'm a 41 year old mother of two beautiful children aged 10 and 14. I have been a massage therapist for many years specializing in pregnancy and postnatal care in the woman's home. I have also trained in Nutrition and Naturopathy and I live a natural holistic life, with my children. My passion for this fundraiser comes from many years of being involved in women's natural birth support groups. Through both my studies and work in natural health, I have supported mothers and their families, to be nurtured in an environment where they feel safe and supported by midwives, doulas and other women. I know first hand how important this is for the health of new mothers and their families. Personally, I was not interested in having my babies born in hospital, so I made it possible to have my children both to be born easily at home with private midwifery care in Brisbane Australia......but for many this is not an option, especially in Indonesia where many families cannot even afford simple health care, let alone birth care.
This is why I feel drawn to connect with an organization that provides an essential service that needs your help.........and visiting Bali recently in January reminded me of a spark and a memory that I had years ago, before my children were born, to volunteer with people in need. Bumi Sehat in Bali and Aceh is.....swirling love and support in it's own little birth pool haven! Indonesian women and families NEED it! It is run completely by donations and volunteers, provides over 17,000 people with FREE health care a year, and offers midwifery training to local Indonesian women, supporting them to become midwives needed for birthing women and communities. It also offers water births, breastfeeding education and support, pediatric clinic, acupuncture and chinese herbs, nutrition and vitamin support, pregnancy yoga and reiki for the elderly. All of this is provided for FREE to Indonesian women and their families.
Because of the wonderful work they do at Bumi Sehat it is helping reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate, increasing the health of the local people and suporting a healthy start to life for newborn babies. They sometimes treat over 100 people a day and are so busy they need a larger clinic.
I plan to return to Bali in 2013 with my 2 children, but wish to have your help with this important fundraiser and get a head start before I get there. Please consider donating even a small amount. The western dollar goes a very long way in Bali...... It used to cost me only $1 to fill my scooter petrol tank for the week! Please also help by sharing my fundraiser through social networks or workplaces, or family and friends, especially if you know they will appreciate the services that Bumi Sehat offer.
Blessings and gratitude
