June 29, 2016 Grayson Slade Murphy was born sleeping at 34 weeks. We had struggled 2 years to get pregnant and we were overjoyed when it happened. His siblings were excited to meet him. We spent nights touching the baby and dreaming about our new lives with him. Our surrounding families and friends were excited as well and we were all preparing. On June 29th, just one day after my last appointment, I started bleeding. Out of nowhere we are thrown into having to rush to the hospital. I was so sure that everything would be fine. The drive to the hospital was filled with me trying to convince my husband it would all be ok. When we arrived to the hospital and couldn't get baby on the monitor I knew then what had happened. Ultrasound confirmed we would be delivering our baby boy sleeping. He had tied his umbilical cord in a knot (considered rare) and wrapped the cord around his neck and feet. The placenta had detached and there was some Fetal-maternal hemorrhaging. Babies aren't supposed to die. It's not fair and it's not right. Please help me in joining forces to help other parents start this unbearable journey.
