BENEFITING: HEALTH FOR ORPHANS INC
ORGANIZER: HEALTH FOR ORPHANS INC
I am honored and blessed to be running the Disney Princess Half Marathon for Health for Orphans! Health for Orphans delivers adjunct medical technologies and methods to help meet the medical needs of orphans prior to home placement and during the transition into caring family environments. Orphans like Teresa need your help! Below is her story and there are thousands of other kids like her who depend on the kindness of others just to survive. Adoptive parents, doctors, or volunteer - we all play a role in making a difference in other's lives. Please join me and help me reach my goal of just $500! All donations will go directly to a child in need, like Teresa.
Teresa was born on December 25, 2006 in China.
She was born with a very complex heart condition. In July 2010, Teresa arrived in the United States with the hope that she would finally be able to receive the life-saving surgery she needed. Unfortunately, due the delay in medical care, her family learned she not only needed a heart transplant but also a lung transplant. Her doctors felt she would not survive this operation. Amazingly, with her new family Teresa did get strong enough to get a new heart in June of 2013. Ultimately, she succumbed to complications following surgery, and on July 1, 2013 the world gained a new angel.
She was an amazing inspiration to all who met her!
Health For Orphans is honored to work with Teresa’s family to provide life-saving heart surgery to orphans IN China—eliminating the wait. Through funds raised by runners at Disney, we hope to give at least one orphan the surgery they so urgently need by the end of the Princess Half marathon. Help us to give “A heart from Teresa”.
