HEALTH FOR YOUTHS' Fundraiser:

H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths Scholarship Program

BENEFITING: HEALTH FOR YOUTHS

THE STORY:

Our students have been spending the summer of 2010 engaged in college and graduate school preparation workshops, community service and outreach programs, internships at various partner sites and social/cultural events. They have amazing workshop leaders, wonderful volunteers and developed a true camaraderie and spirit with each other. And yet, they still need help from generous individuals like you. The H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths Scholarship and Internship Support Program provides such help.

Eddy Dure is a student from St. John's University who H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths placed in an unpaid summer 2010 internship at iMentor (www.imentor.org). He has shared his thoughts on what a scholarship would mean to him:
"Everyday I spend three hours total in transit to get to work and to get back home. Despite the traveling expenses, and the longer days due to
the commute, I do this everyday because I am determined to get to where I need to be in life. Receiving a H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths scholarship will go a long ways in helping me pay for the first installment in my tuition payment plan, which will be an enormous relief to my parents who have to work incredibly long hours to make ends meet."

Here's just a snapshot of what our students have been up to this summer:
Just this past Sunday HEALTHY was at Van Cortlandt Park working on the greeting garden and tornado cleanup. Check out photos from the event at: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=251137&l=28c86e020c&id=175854740026

And earlier this month, students learned all about urban farming at Boswyck Farms in Brooklyn.
