The 2015 Purple Purse Challenge will benefit our five+ bedroom domestic violence shelter, Penelope’s Place, where we provide survivors of violence with safety, security, and comfort. Last year we provided 42 families with the help, hope, and opportunity they needed to improve their lives and break the cycles of violence.
Your support will allow us to make vital capital improvements to our shelter. These improvements are needed to ensure the health and safety of the women and children who depend on us. Over the past year our focus has been on providing comprehensive, coordinated care to the families who call Penelope’s Place home, but today we need to turn our attention on ensuring the long-term sustainability of the building itself.
Did you know that Penelope’s Place is the only domestic violence shelter in the City of Brockton and one of the only in the region? Women and children who are fleeing dangerous, and often life-threatening, situations of violence and abuse count on us to be there when they are most in need of support. And today we are counting on you to help us achieve our goal of making the structural, mechanical, and safety repairs needed to keep our guests healthy and safe.
This summer we upgraded our electrical system and plumbing, replaced the roof, and removed asbestos in the basement, but we still have a ways to go!
With your gift we can:
- Repair broken siding and paint the home
- Replace our crumbling chimney
- Repair broken windows, and so much more!
Together we can finally finish the vital repairs needed to ensure that our shelter is a safe, warm, and welcoming home for survivors of domestic violence. Thank you for your continued support and friendship.
