For the past 7 years, the Daughters of Penelope have joined with Health Imperatives to support survivors of domestic violence and their families. Together, we provide safety, security, and comfort to survivors.
Previously, Penelope’s Place solely functioned as a safe house for those fleeing dangerous, and often life-threatening, situations of violence. Today, in addition to being a warm and welcoming home, we also provide comprehensive, coordinated care for survivors. In addition to shelter, we now provide families with crisis counseling, safety planning, housing assistance, and so much more! This support assists them in improving their health and well-being, breaking the cycles of violence, and ensuring their future stability.
We are currently in the process of making critical improvements to the physical structure of Penelope's Place. The home is in need of major improvements to ensure the health and safety of the survivors who call the shelter home each year, and we will be working over the coming months to make these repairs.
This summer we upgraded our electrical system and plumbing, replaced the roof, and removed asbestos in the basement, but we still have a ways to go!
With your gift we can:
- Repair broken siding and paint the home
- Replace our crumbling chimney
- Repair broken windows, and so much more!
Together we can finally finish the vital repairs needed to ensure that our shelter is a safe, warm, and welcoming home for survivors of domestic violence. Thank you for your continued support and friendship.
