I'm so excited to again support Health Imperatives through the Purple Purse Challenge!
All funding raised will benefit their five bedroom domestic violence shelter, Penelope’s Place, where they provide survivors of violence with safety, security, and comfort. As the Secretary of Health Imperatives' Board of Directors, I've seen first-hand the impact they make on local families and children and I am so excited to support this fundraising effort. At Penelope's Place they provide survivors with the tools they need to be healthy, safe, and self-sufficient.
Your support will allow Health Imperatives to make vital capital improvements to their domestic violence shelter. These improvements are needed to ensure the health and safety of the women and children who depend on them. Over the past year their focus has been on providing comprehensive, coordinated care to the families who call Penelope’s Place home, but today we need to turn their attention on ensuring the long-term sustainability of the building itself.
Did you know that Penelope’s Place is the only domestic violence shelter in the City of Brockton and one of the only in the region? Women and children who are fleeing dangerous, and often life-threatening, situations of violence and abuse count on Health Imperatives to be there when they are most in need of support. And today we are counting on you to help us achieve our goal of making the structural, mechanical, and safety repairs needed to keep our guests healthy and safe.
This summer Health Imperatives upgraded the electrical system and plumbing, replaced the roof, and removed asbestos in the basement, but we still have a ways to go!
With your gift Health Imperatives can:
- Repair broken siding and paint the home
- Replace the crumbling chimney
- Repair broken windows, and so much more!
Together we can finally finish the vital repairs needed to ensure that Penelope's Place shelter is a safe, warm, and welcoming home for survivors of domestic violence. Last year Health Imperatives provided 42 families with the help, hope, and opportunity they needed to improve their lives and break the cycles of violence. Imagine all the good we can do together in the coming year! Will you please support families in need? My goal is to raise $1,000 and with your help I know I can do it.
Thank you for your continued support and friendship.
