BENEFITING: UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
ORGANIZER: Team Health
EVENT DATE: Mar 04, 2013
I'm raising money for the Health Information team and - in turn - for SI's Alternative Spring Break program. For the week of spring break, ASB sends graduate students to week-long mini-internships in various US locations to enhance their skills and learn from their collegues in the field -- all while furthering the mission of the non-profit.
For my internship, I'll be working at the Prevent Child Abuse America in Chicago, IL. At PCAA, I'll be:
- Evaluating the Program Information Management System (PIMS) database used by case managers.
- Identifying best practices from similar databases to consider implementing.
- Conducting semi-structured interviews with system users to determine needs and prorities.
- Creating a proposal for system improvement.
Ultimately, my participation will help optimize system interactions for case managers -- so they can focus on children and families rather than data entry.
