Everyone knows it's easier to learn a good habit than break a bad one. By the time a child is five years old, they have already formed food and fitness preferences and habits. At five, I was most likely underweight due to my mom's genes. People would comment on my weight making me feel like I needed to eat more, and I did. I ate the wrong foods not knowing that there was a healthy way to get to a healthy weight. I was not healthy and I didn't know how to be healthy. That is why Healthstart is important to me. By captivating children, engaging teachers, and involving parents we can empower children to create a healthier future for our communities through early health education - and that's exactly what HealthStart does.
