Healthy over Hungry Cereal Drive
June 10, 2016
The summer months are hard for children in our community who have no access to free meal programs provided through the public schools. Westlake Hospital, and Tenet Health, is committed to helping thousands of children have a nutritious breakfast every day of the year. “At Westlake Hospital, we recognize hunger exists in every city in America, and our staff is eager to join the fight against hunger and make a difference in our community,” said Patrick Maloney, Chief Executive Officer of Westlake Hospital. “We recognize the importance of good nutrition on good health and hope that, through this drive, we can help those struggling with food insecurity.” There will be two ways individuals can contribute: 1) drop off healthy cereal items at Westlake Hospital - Main Lobby or 2) contribte through the Online Virtual Food Drive. All contributions will support the Food Pantry at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Melrose Park. The pantry has been open since the 1970’s, and serves more than 2,800 families every year. Additionally, they are also a member of the Greater Chicago Food Depository and a member of the Feeding America network.
