On Monday, April 16th, 2012 I will be running 26.2 miles for the 116th Boston Marathon as part of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Grateful Nation Marathon team. All the money I raise will support the Healthy Champions program at the BIDMC-affiliated Bowdoin Street Health Center. This program teaches economically disadvantaged young people about the health and wellness issues that are most important within their neighborhoods and the role they can play in creating positive change.
To run a marathon has been an important goal for me for a long time. I am so excited that I have the opportunity for my first marathon to be Boston, arguably the most prestigious in the country, and to do it as part of the BIDMC team. I have worked at BIDMC as a physical therapist since I graduated from college and most of my patients are from the surrounding neighborhoods, so I feel very lucky to be able to contribute to this important cause.
Between now and April, the team and I will be training hard to prepare for the race and fundraising for Healthy Champions. Please support me by visiting my page often for updates and making a donation.
A gift at any level will help me reach my $5,000 goal!
