"The best runners leave no tracks" Tao Ti Ching
Hello Friends & Family,
This year will be my fifth year running The Boston Marathon raising money for BIDMC/Grateful Nation charity. I have decided to raise money for healthy champions -children from homes in Dorchester. The Bowdoin Health Center provides health care and additional services like organizing The Healthy Champions Program. It focuses on providing opportunities to children to develop extra-curricular skills in the neighborhood after school hours and on weekends.
Healthy champions run a community garden – grow, harvest, sell and learn to cook what they grow. Clearly embracing the concept of “Earth to Table”. In summer you can see them peddling produce at a famers market, learning concepts like marketing, money management and an education in healthy living. This provides fresh produce to the community with no grocery store, provides balanced fresh produce and meals to families. All of this education and exposure provides the kids and their parents skills to be successful individuals and members of the community.
I am deeply grateful for any contribution you can make to help me achieve my goal; every little bit will get me just that much closer to $5000! Despite the recession/depression it is surprising the fund raising requirements only seem to go up every year. All of you may have to dig deep to provide for the less fortunate.
In return for your support, you will get:
1) The satisfaction of helping kids and young adults to a better future
2) A valuable tax deduction
3) A very heartfelt “Thank You” letter from yours truly.
**And finally, since you deserve to be recognized for your support (of any amount), on marathon day I plan to write the names of everyone who contributed towards my $5,000 goal on my official singlet. I look forward to sharing OUR accomplishment with the hundreds of thousands of other runners and spectators!
With that said, I hope you will elect to join me in supporting Bowdoin Health Center. I have created a donation grid for your use. Feel free to follow its suggestions or to create one of your own.
