EVENT DATE Oct 27, 2014
There is no future brighter than that of a child.
In New York City:860,000 school meals are prepared each day.
For most children- The School Cafeteria lunch may be their ONLY meal for the day which means that the primary benefactor for childrens energy comes from the food which is served.
For this reason we would assume that school food would be healthful and wholesome.. so why isn't it?
The Department of Education spends less than $1.00 per child for the cost of the food for the lunch meal- this should give you a clear depiction of the quality of food which our children are receiving.
What if YOU could change that?
New York Coalition for Healthy School Lunches is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that focuses on increasing the number of healthy plant-based meals served to school kids on a daily basis.
The meals are WHOLESOME: low in saturated fats, high in fiber and include all essential phytonutrients and grains.
The organisation also teaches this nutrition based curriculum to children, and encourage entire family participation. They host teacher and school food service staff training, and create functional recipes which are used as staple menus in schools throughout New York.
This organization resonates within my core - because without health, our children, our future don't even stand a chance- and this is something we can absolutely change!
It takes a lot of work to initiate change- and the Coalition for Healthy School Food has all the pieces in place to make the change – the only thing that is lacking is YOUR SUPPORT.
Your donation will make the WORLD of difference, changing one student, one class, one school at a time!
