Heartland Forest is a nature experience with a difference. It is a place where all ages and abilities are welcome and engaged in meaningful activities and work. We offer easy access trails on 93 acres of protected forest and wetlands. We are open to the public year round from 8 a.m. to dusk - free of charge. Whether it is seniors, families, individuals with special needs or school and community groups, we learn and grow together while enjoying the accessible gardens, carvings, turtle, frog and fish ponds as well as the mini-putt, treehouse and picnic areas. There is also the Tootsie Express Train with two of the cars adapted especially for wheelchairs and scooters—amazing!
Our Work Experience Program is geared towards serving older youth and adults who have an intellectual or developmental disability, or an acquired brain injury. Participants in the Work Experience Program are ready, willing and able to work; with a strong desire to contribute and to continue to learn. Consider making a donation today or better yet sponosoring a participant for a year!
Our accessible natural environment is UNIQUE and our passion to reach all ages and abilities in order to engage them in meaningful work and outdoor fun is evident in all that we do.
