Hearts in Motion -- Guatemala 2015
Organized by: Brenden Erickson
My name is Brenden Erickson and I am excited to share with you an amazing opportunity I have to bring hope and healing to the children and families of Zacapa, Guatemala. Last year, I was privileged to have the opportunity to travel with an incredible non-profit organization called Hearts in Motion. This organization has been providing medical and humanitarian aid in Central and South America since 1990. What is even more exciting to me is that this year I get to share the same life changing experiences with my younger brother and sister, Caleb and Hannah. Our goal is to raise $7500 for the cause. We are looking forward to the opportunities we will have to give care to the children in a nutrition center, provide fluoride treatments and much needed toothbrushes in small villages, and begin an art program in an orphanage. While my siblings and I are doing this work, there will also be a medical team performing much needed surgery, free of charge, to some of those most in need. Last year's trip had a profound impact on my life. It changed the way I view the world and those around me, and has helped me develop a desire to serve others. I believe this year's trip will have an equally powerful impact on my brother and sister. I have attached a few pictures from last year's trip for you to see. There are a couple of easy ways to donate. You can donate directly through Crowdrise if you wish. All of those funds will be passed along to us, and we will then pass that entire amount to Hearts in Motion. Or, if you want your donation to be a tax write off -- my dad says that is important to some of you :) -- then you can go to the Hearts in Motion website and donate there. Just be sure to make a note that the donation is for the Erickson kids. I have put those specific directions below. I have also included some general information about Hearts in Motion. Thank you so much for considering a donation to Hearts in Motion. Anything you can give, whether large or small, will be greatly appreciated and have an impact on the lives of those we will serve. Hearts In Motion is a not-for-profit corporation with 501 (c) 3 status. Our tax-id number is 35-1887934. We will gratefully acknowledge your contribution. Contributions can be made either through PayPal or by going to our website, www.heartsinmotion.org and then go to "Ways to Give", "Donate", and "Mission Trips". You can also pay by check. Please remember that any checks submitted for tax deductible donation MUST be made payable to the order of Hearts In Motion. Checks made out to any other name cannot be tax deductible. Please make note of the sponsored person’s name in the memo section of your check or in the Instructions From Buyer area on PayPal. In the event that my fundraiser generates more than the amount of my trip, it is the practice of Hearts In Motion to roll it over into the general fund as a tax-deductible donation. The mission of Hearts In Motion is to provide care and medical treatment for children, families, and communities through its programs and sponsorships in the U.S., and Central and South America. An additional goal is to provide opportunities for individuals to participate in short-term mission experiences. The impact of the trip experience on each team member is at least as great as the impact on the lives of the people we touch. Many lives are changed Hearts In Motion is a non-profit, non-denominational organization focusing on the needs of impoverished children and families. Our mission is committed to meeting the needs of individuals by aiding in the development of programs in health, education and welfare, both in the US and throughout Central and South America. Hearts In Motion sends teams of volunteers to impoverished areas of Central and South America. We work cooperatively with foreign hospitals by providing informative lectures and donated medical equipment to help improve the health care systems in these countries. At least 15 times a year, teams spend ten days performing plastic, obstetrics, or orthopedic surgery, providing general medical help, train firefighters, build and give out prosthetics, and work on construction projects. Work teams travel to build or renovate hospitals, orphanages, schools, nutrition centers, and fire departments. In addition to medical and work trips, supplies are continually sent to improve health care systems in foreign countries. Throughout the year, area doctors and hospitals donate their services to care for children brought to the U.S. with conditions that were too severe to be treated in their country.
