My dream, a fitness program that will travel to preschools, boys and girls clubs, parks and churches to help children understand the importance they have in the world. Keeping fit and staying active is just a stepping stone to children achieving their own personal greatness. I need help making this happen. I need donations from people that have known what it’s like to have that one person in their childhood that made them feel invincible; or from the people that wish someone had done that for them. I want to be that person for others. I have the training, I have the passion, what I lack is the funding. Please read more about my fundraiser, I will share with you, show you, and prove to you, that your donations are empowering children.

How I got here:

So, you know when you’ve had this idea running around you head since like EVER! I’ve made a lot of choices that have circled around my passion, but now it’s time to go for it. Been a tom-boy all my life. Grew up as a gymnast, diver, ran track, all-around athlete. Loved kids, started babysitting when I was 12. Started getting older and realized you can’t just apply to be a wife, or a Mom. So, I joined the Marines. Graduated as Honor Grad from Parris Island, kind of a big deal, and continued on. Honorable discharge from USMC had me looking for the next adventure. Blah blah blah life…and then I found myself with a 2 ½ year old son and a 6 week old son, and a marriage that was ending before the baby was even born. Boys and I pick up and start a new life in SC and I become a fireman. Yep, one of three women on the department. It provided insurance and offered me the time I wanted to take care of my angels. I also became an EMT along with being a hose dragging, stair climbing, firefighting chick. Loved it. I end up needing a surgery that fuses my neck. Still all sorts of athletic, but no longer that super hero of a woman fireman! My boys and I work out, big into their sports now as well as my own and I find myself constantly wanting to do more with all these kids I see at their school, the fields, and their functions. I’m that one they all gravitate to. Doing cartwheels and playing kickball with them. I got myself certified as a Youth Exercise Specialist, with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Still circling around the dream. So for the first time ever I’m sitting at a desk. Working 8:30 – 5:00 for someone else’s dream. Not a motivated, joy filled smile in sight. I’ve used my time at this computer and researched small businesses. Seems as though I need way more capital than this hard charger, pay check to pay check Mom has. My mind has been racing, my heart has been praying, and then I came upon Crowdrise. Struggled with the thought of asking for this kind of help for a month or two. Believe me, I know I’m blessed. I have healthy, happy, intelligent children. I went back and forth thinking about if this is a “worthy need” to ask people to donate to. Then a few things happened. Recently I sat at work on a Friday afternoon, alone for hours, everyone in charge had left early to go spend time with their families. I couldn't stand knowing my boys were home, wishing I was there with them to take them for a run, or find an obstacle course to mess around on. Thinking about all the kids home this summer that would love a program and person to make them feel the same passion I do. I realized that it’s time for a change. All my life my Mother always said, “what’s the worst that can happen, they say no”. My Father always said, “you’ll never know until you try”. So here I am asking, trying… I want to start this business. I will start this business, but it would be such an added blessing with your help. If you’re moved to help me, thank you and God bless you. If you’re not, God bless you anyway!
