BENEFITING: HEARTSTRINGS INC
ORGANIZER: HEARTSTRINGS INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2016
On November 18, 2014 our son Jack Andrew Kurtts was born at 23 weeks. He lived for 20 brave minutes before it became clear that he was destined for bigger and greater things beyond his earthly confines. On that day we lost our son, Arlo lost his brother and our lives competely changed.
Figuring out how to put one foot in front of the other after Jack's death was nearly impossible. Where do we go from here? What am I suposed to say? How am I supposed to act? What do I say when somone asks how many children I have? How do I navigate holidays? How do I cope with these new symptoms of grief like memory loss and fatigue? Am I losing my mind?
The first few weeks were devastating, isolating and confusing but after reaching out to Heartstrings things slowy started to come into focus for us. Through connections partners and support group meetings we began to have aha moments. We were given tools to start to navigate what will be our lifelong journey of loss. We made forever friends in kindred spirits who understood and were experiencing so many of the same things that we were. We no longer felt alone and crazy.
Although we could not save Jack, Heartstrings has saved us. And because of that our family has been given the strength to save, preserve and share Jack's life and memory with confidence and so much love.
We are so incredibly fortunate to have such an amazing and life changing organization in the Triad to help families like ours as well as others here and around the counrty. Please consider supporting our Heartstrings Walk Team which in turn helps to support these families. We would be honored if you'd consider donating in honor of Jack or in memory of a child you hold close to your heart.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Nicole, Andy, Arlo and Jack
