In Loving Memory of Elaine F. Kelliher
On April 18, 2012 the world lost a wonderful, caring, nurturing, loving woman who was full of life. My Aunt Elaine never met a stranger, she touched so many lives in her 64 years. I don't think she had any idea that she made such a powerful impact on the people she met.
She would be flattered that the 2012 Abington High School Green Wave football team dedicated their season to her. The team wore yellow EFK patches on their jerseys from the first game until they won the Division 4 Super Bowl title in December.
I had many conversations with my aunt when she was sick and I know that she will be running with me every step of the way when I make the 26.2 mile trek from Hopkington to Boston on April 15th.
I am running raise money for diabetes reseach so that other people will not have to endure what my aunt went through, and so that other families will not have to suffer the untimely loss of someone so special.
It has been 10 years since my last marathon and I have a lot of training to do, but I could not think of a better way to honor my Aunt Elaine.
I RUN BECAUSE I CAN.
WHEN I’M TIRED,
I REMEMBER THOSE WHO CAN’T RUN,
WHAT THEY WOULD GIVE TO HAVE THE
SIMPLE GIFT I TAKE FOR GRANTED,
AND I RUN HARDER FOR THEM.
I KNOW THEY WOULD DO THE SAME FOR ME!
