Thanks to YOU, we reached our GOAL!

When Emma was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at the start of this year, I knew I had to do something to honor her incredible strength and determination. So, when I was lucky enough to secure an entry into this year's NYC Marathon, I decided there would be no better way to honor her than with the mental and physical endurance of 26.2 miles.
With T1D, her pancreas no longer monitors, adjusts and supplies the insulin she needs to survive, so Emma endures shot after shot of insulin and must continually monitor her blood glucose through multiple finger pricks. She does not allow this autoimmune condition to define the amazing girl she is, though she must be constantly aware of identifying low blood glucose levels so we can treat them immediately. Emma continues to inspire us every day with her enthusiasm for a busy life of soccer, school and friends...and T1D and Celiac (diagnosed one month after T1D) will not stand in her way.
We dream of a future for Emma in which she no longer has to endure the demands and stresses of T1D...we hope for a cure. Please help us support the research at JDRF that will lead to this future for our amazing Emma!
