BENEFITING: EASTERN ILLINOIS FOODBANK
EVENT DATE: Mar 10, 2012
Many of you know me as Heather (Cupps) Miller---“townie”, Extension Master Gardener, 4-H Club Leader, Farm Bureau member, avid local and state PTA volunteer, photographer, mom, Kiwanis Little League baseball coach, wife, Park District softball player, friend…. I love this town, so I stayed and I try to help wherever I can to make my hometown a better place. I enjoy volunteering so when I was asked to help by being on the “court”, I jumped at the chance! My husband says he will even “ask his mom and dad if he can borrow the car” to take me to PROM!!!! (Hahaha…thanks, honey….) My formal education from the University of Illinois is in the field of agriculture, so I feel it is important for me to help stomp out hunger in our local community. We all need to remember to thank a farmer for the bountiful safe food they grow here in Illinois and all over the U.S., but we need to take it a step further and remember our community neighbors in need that aren’t as fortunate as many of us. Living in the agricultural “breadbasket” of the U.S. means none of our fellow neighbors should go hungry. I have seen firsthand children at my son’s school that worry about where they will get food when they are home on the weekends. This means we aren’t doing enough when a child only gets fed when they come to school Monday through Friday.
I am excited about this opportunity to help with the “cause”…I wasn’t nominated for my high school prom court, but I did get to go to FOUR (yes 4) high school PROMS (that’s what happens when you go to Centennial and your boyfriend goes to Central!) I loved the Prom atmosphere of fun and festivities, and with this particular PROM there is an extra special outcome—we help people in need!
Help me show the Eastern Illinois Food Bank that our community cares with a generous donation! After all, your donation just might encourage me to get into a frilly dress again (been a long time!) if I become the Eastern Illinois Foodbank PROM QUEEN! It only takes a small donation. I know how blessed my family is with food on the table and a roof over our heads—but I can’t do it alone—I need your help!!!!!!! Please donate today—I know how strong of a community we are when we band together!
LASTLY… to find out who gets crowned, buy your tickets to the prom at www.prombenefit.org today!
