BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
EVENT DATE: Apr 30, 2017
Hello Everyone! After qualifying and getting into the Boston Marathon I'm lucky enough to have been chosen as one of 300 Boston Marathon athletes from across the country to participate in the Boston to Big Sur program. I will run Boston on April 17th and on April 30th I will run the Big Sur Marathon in California. It's important to embrace a program like this with a purpose so I have chosen to raise funds for The American Cancer Society. Cancer has touched almost everyone 's life and mine is no different. My mom and dear friend Sue have battled breast cancer with success, but last summer I lost a dear friend and marathon running buddy, Cathy to lung cancer. I love all three of them very much and will be running for them this April.
This is my third time running Boston so I know what to expect, but Big Sur is very challenging with a lot of hills, so I will do my very best to prepare. This will be my tenth and eleventh marathons and by far my biggest challenge as they are within 2 weeks of each other and on opposite sides of the country. However, this training is nothing compared to the pain and stress of fighting cancer. Mom, Sue, and Cathy are amazing, brave, and wonderful examples of strength and love. Consider joining me in the fight against cancer as we give our best to end this disease.
