Helmerson's Hike to Help in the Himalayas
Organized by: Chris Helmerson
On April 25, 2015, a 7.8 earthquake hit Nepal near the capital city of Kathmandu, the worst of its kind in more than 80 years. More than 9,000 people were killed, a further 23,000 were injured and the destruction to infrastructure and homes was massive. Aftershocks continued to shake the country in the weeks that followed causing further fear for those left homeless and vulnerable by the initial earthquake. On May 12, 2015, a second 7.3 earthquake struck the country, causing further devastation and loss of lives.
Help me support the efforts and volunteers of All Hands by donating. Join me along my journey as I will be one of 20 adventurers that will be trekking to Everest Base Camp from May 22 ‐ June 4, 2016, in partnership with Explore Himalaya! Proceeds will be used to help the people of Nepal recover from last year’s devastating earthquake. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to accomplish an incredible feat of endurance while at the same time, making an enduring impact on a family that has lost everything.
The trekking industry is integral to Nepal’s economy and was deeply affected by the earthquake. The All Hands on Everest Challenge not only allows us to raise funds to physically rebuild the lives of many but also enables us to support an industry that needs every boost it can get. You can help me in spreading hope in the Himalayas by donating now.
If you can't make a donation at this point, help me reach my goal by sharing this page on Facebook and Twitter! Or, even better, send an e-mail to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to my page!
Thanks so much for your generosity!
